What kundli matching is
For many families, a marriage horoscope match — Guna Milan, or Ashtakoot Milan — is an important step before a match is taken forward. Two birth charts are compared for compatibility, and the practice is a settled part of how a great many families in India decide.
The 36 gunas
Ashtakoot Milan scores compatibility across eight factors (kootas) for a total of 36 points. A higher score is read as greater compatibility; conventionally, families look for a match above a certain threshold, though the exact number families are comfortable with varies.
Manglik dosha
Manglik (or Mangal) dosha relates to the position of Mars in a chart. Where it applies, families often look for a compatible chart or a remedy suggested by their astrologer. Whether and how it matters is a decision families and their astrologer make together.
You need an accurate birth time
A kundli is generated from date, exact time and place of birth. The time matters most, so it is worth confirming from a birth record rather than memory before a chart is drawn up.

What is kundli matching or Guna Milan?
It is the comparison of two birth horoscopes for marriage compatibility, common across many Indian communities. The most widely used method, Ashtakoot Milan, scores the match out of 36 points across eight factors.
How many gunas are needed for marriage?
There is no single rule, and families differ. Many consider a score above roughly half of 36 to be workable and look more closely as the score rises. The number a family is comfortable with is theirs to decide, usually with their astrologer.
Do I need to put rashi, nakshatra or gothra on my biodata?
Gothra is commonly included and our biodata generator has a field for it. Rashi, nakshatra and manglik status belong to a kundli — a separate document drawn from an exact birth time — so add them to a biodata only if horoscopes will actually be matched.
